WHAT IS TANK STRATIFICATION?

TANK STRATIFICATION – is a process of layering old tanks to strengthen and extend the life of the tank.10 to 20 years

APPLICATIONS AND BENEFITS
  • Overground and underground tank repair (including live site)
  • Old tank stratification for extended life
  • Tank lining (jet fuel, water, chemicals….and more). Tall tanks
THE PROBLEM

When underground fuel tanks in live stations are confirmed leaking, the job of replacing these tanks with new tanks is sometime impossible or just not economical as the cost of shutdown or even the cost of concrete breaking, excavation and replacement is just not viable.

THE SOLUTION

Smartflow is able to perform a professional, safe and successful repair on the tank in its current position without any excavation work in approximately 7 to 12 days. This document will explain how we do the job, what is involved and our capability and readiness to support your business with these repairs. In some cases, Clients can embark on a proactive measure to protect their tanks from leakage. If the tank is very old, it may be a good idea to stratify the tank in advance of any future leakages.

Smartflow also has the capability to coat overground Jet A1 and other fuel storage tanks, as well as mobile tanker truck tanks with epoxy.

After the job, depending on the system chosen – the tank’s life can be extended by 5 to 10 years minimum, possibly many more years.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF STRATIFICATION (UNDERGROUND TANKS)

There are 3 main types of repair/stratification jobs possible with Smartflow for Underground Tanks, all 3 systems are described below and all 3 requires the tank to be cleaned, sand blasted/power brushed and properly inspected.

FULL TANK EPOXY ONLY. This solution will provide an additional 2.5 to 3mm protection coat on the tank wall. This solution including the tank cleaning and inspection will take approximately 5 to 7 days

FULL TANK EPOXY + FIBRE GLASS MAT ON TANK FLOOR ONLY (APPROX. 1/4 OF TANK SURFACE). This solution will provide an additional 5mm thickness protection coat at the tank bottom and 2.5 to 3mm on the rest of the tank. This solution including the tank cleaning and inspection will take approximately 7 to 9 days

FULL TANK EPOXY + FULL TANK FIBRE GLASS MAT. This is the most reliable system as the fiberglass mat layer provides the required protection for the entire tank together with the Epoflex epoxy. This solution will provide an additional 5mm thickness protection coat on all parts of the tank. This solution including the tank cleaning and inspection will take approximately 9 to 12 days

HOLE REPAIR ONLY
